The Picnic (S1 Ep.7-8)

When we joined the group, Dianne was sitting and looked better. The conversations were around the subject "Mario".
Charlie: So, you all know each other. And why did you get upset, Dianne? - Charlie's timing couldn't be better and he was probably the best person to pull the issue. Charlie has a way to talk on sensitive matters, perhaps by his innocence with which does or says things, can take them to a successful conclusion.
Dianne: Mario and I were very close friends in elementary school until we weren’t anymore. I'm not upset. Simply, I wasn't expecting to see him here! Or anywhere in the world…
Miguel: Autch!
Dianne's words were strong, so much that I felt sorry for the poor guy, who, quietly, looked at her with a twinkle in his eyes. I was holding myself, eager to realize the role of Sofie in this whole story, when Charlie asked.
Charlie: Well, he can't be that bad. Sofie looks happy to see him. Tell us, Sofie, how do you know Mario? - Charlie knew more than he let it show. There was clearly a goal behind his questions.
Sofie: When I moved with my parents we stayed at the home of a cousin of my mother. That's when I discovered that I had another cousin of my age, Mario. I didn't know anyone else, he was my support at the time, we got very good friends since then. -Sofie's words did not seem to have the effect that was expected, make Dianne understand that what she thought at the time it wasn't all that corresponded to the truth.

Charlie: In other words, Mario swapped a best friend for another. - Charlie's attempt may not have been clear to everyone, however, had the desired result, pull Mario into the conversation.
Mario: No, I really like Dianne, I wouldn't do that to her. - Ups! Had a little more than was expected, or not. - I mean… Our friendship was important to me.
Joan: Dianne, I’m sorry, but this story is getting interesting. – Joan had already noticed Charli’s intentions. Resolve what clearly was a misunderstanding, but his attempt to soften things did not have the predictable effect.

This was to be the longest lunch I remember. Conversation after conversation and didn't look like Diane changed her mind. Maybe the fact she was reviving all the past disappointment didn't help.
Dianne: I'm glad someone is entertained, but I have more to do. With you excuse me.
Charlie: Dianne don't go, please! I apologize for insisting on this issue.
Dianne: No Charlie, no harm was done. I'm not interested in hearing more, from the time that I've been to now it past five years.
Dianne was clearly upset, but didn't show any weakness while retreated, nor gave any chance to Mario. She was determined to let this story where it belonged, in the past.
