Monday, April 22
Monday! It's a school day and at 9:20 in the morning, I'm already waiting at Joan’s house’s gate for her so we can go to school together… Here she comes with her joy and her contagious smile.
This is my best friend Joan. Since grade school, we've been in the same classroom. Over the years we got used to going together to school. Her house is on the same street as mine and on the way to the bus stop, so in the morning, I meet Joan here and we follow our way.
Joan is a little stubborn, she doesn't like to lose and can become uncompromising if she feels that the purpose is to make her wrong no matter what. She is super feminine and loves her wild curls. She likes to be surrounded by friends and to spoil us with her charm and style tips, I think it is her favorite hobby. She is generous and humble, has a spirit of sacrifice, and an ability to work unshakable. Loves animals, the beach, and her friends. She likes clean and organized spaces. Doesn't like to be pressed or rush.
This school year is almost over, but what was to come was just the beginning of a new chapter in my life and without Joan, without her support, my story wouldn’t be the same.
April is almost ending, which means that the test season is coming, the feared final exams. And so, whenever we don't have classes in the afternoon we have a study session together. But first, a stop at the school’s bar to enhance the energy.
When I pulled my coin purse from the backpack Joan looked at it with some admiration, it was visible that she wanted to ask me something, but she didn't say anything until we delivered the trays.
Joan: This coin purse is brand new, isn’t Rose?
Rose: Yes, do you like it?
Joan: I Love it! The colors are so vivid. Is wonderful! How do you have these ideas?
Rose: I don't know, I just let me go on imagination. A bit like you, when you pick your clothes to make your own combinations, you let yourself go on your creativity, following your instinct, right?
Joan: Well... – She was a bit thoughtful and then added. - It's true!
Rose: What is it?
Joan: No, nothing. Just an idea, but never mind.
Of all of my four best friends, Joan is probably the one who knows me best. She doesn't have that must of sewing skills, maybe because she never really wanted to learn, but despite that, she loves to help me in the process of making a piece and whenever I have a new accessory she gets super excited and loves to share new ideas for combinations sets. It's not normal for her to hold in her mind anything that has to do with fashion, however, when we get back to the table the subject has changed, almost automatically.
The girl with light brown hair by the shoulders, sitting on the left side of the table, is my best friend who dominates the techno, Sofie. She is the newest member of our group. Join us around the seventh grade. Her mother runs a chain of hotels and as far as I know in her early years of childhood she changed city a few times. Maybe that's why she likes her moments alone with her computer.
Sofie is extremely sensitive, which often makes her suffer on behalf of others, and be very careful to not hurt anyone. She has a peculiar style, in a way, a little bit eccentric. She is a good listener and counselor. Although she has the tendency to isolation, doesn't mean that she doesn't like to socialize, on the contrary, her friendships are strong. She is autodidactic and is passionate about what she does. Loves puzzles, and loves to spend time deciphering solutions. She likes music and complexity. She doesn't like to show weakness and the obvious.
Sofie: Joan, your birthday is coming up, do you have any plans already?
Joan: Yes! For this year I thought I’ll do a masquerade ball, what do you girls think?
Rose: Wow. I love the idea!
Sofie: Yes, it's true, it's a great idea! Only you, Joan! Well, it's time to study. – She said with the sound of the ringing bell, reminding all of us that the library was waiting. - Let's go? The girls probably are on the way already. And I know Dianne is curious to know what theme you have chosen this year for your party.
With the snack taken, we packed up our things, to be set on our way to the library. Meanwhile, from the hall, we were being observed without realizing it.
When passing, Elizabeth was astonished by the similarities which recognized in our faces. She isn’t part of our group of friends, honestly, I thought I had never heard of her, oddly enough, until this whole story started. But somehow, it was through Elizabeth that I found out who I really am and a part of what fate has written for me. Further on you will understand what I'm “talking about”.
Elizabeth: "Stella? And Katarina...? It is not possible! Is it?!" - she thought as she was having a vision of two faces from her past.
