"Love" is a surprise (S1 Ep.19-12)
Sofie:
Wow, you're all here! And the boys, where are they? - Looked around eager for
saying hello to everyone when she gave for their absence.
Joan:
Downstairs, helping your mother decorate the scenario.
Dianne:
We knew you were suspicious, so, when your mom suggested this idea we all
agreed immediately.
Joan:
The work is advanced, it was only to keep you in suspense.
Dianne:
All planned out in detail.
Sofie:
Thank you, girls, thanks to you all! Now let's go downstairs to eat and get
some more space. Come on!
When
we went downstairs already the mother of Sofie with Charlie, Richard, Pedro,
Mario and Miguel’s help had placed balloons and decorations everywhere, as well
as food in trays thru the huge reception room to the guests, the background
music smoothen the environment, to the sound of it, everyone dispersed in the area.
Though the day awakened with rain, the loaded clouds no longer could be seen,
which allowed to open the doors to the garden.
While
preparing our dishes Sofie took a turn around the room and the garden greeting
and thanking all those present. Her look, although more cheerful, kept a
glimmer of sadness. And I think I know why!
When
she returned next to us came doing some funny faces...
Sofie:
Ierc ... - this juice is not good.
Dianne:
The Orange juice? - Looked at the glass. - To me, it feels good!
Sofie:
It’s salty and with sand... It's weird, I'm not going to drink any more. I'm
going to ask my mom to remove it from the tables.
Dianne:
Take a taste, Monic! It’s good, seriously! - Stretched her arm with the glass
towards Monic giving it to prove.
Monic:
Yes. It does taste good!
Sofie:
Are you cold? I, I ...
Joan:
Hold on to me. Make an effort to stay awake. Make an effort. - Looked at me
worried, her expression showed that the countdown had begun.
Sofie
had completed a year after her fifteenth birthday, her spirit needed magic in her
body, needed her essence... "If the circle is not complete, they will die
slowly and in pain..." First Sofie, then Monic and by the end of the year
Dianne, if that were to happen they would be lost. Now more than ever I felt
the need to break free, to free them.
Dianne:
What's going on? Joan?
Joan
held Sofie by her right hand while her left arm relied on her shoulders. Softly
uttered a few words and at the same time, the vitality seemed to be replenished
on Sofie.
Joan:
She needs magic, her body is collapsing!
Sofie:
I'm better, don't worry.
Rose:
Of course we do...
Dianne:
Rose is right! What can we do Joan?
Joan:
I will find an answer until you're ready.
Rose:
And if you're ready now?
Joan:
I know it's not easy, but don't be rash, please.
Rose:
I'm not! Remember the garden you've created for me as a birthday present?
Joan:
Yes! But you ... How? - Looked at me as if she searched my mind, nevertheless, her
eyes weren't so surprised.
Rose:
He came to me with this gift, I saw the garden and thought it was his doing but
was from you, Mikhael offered me something different that morning.
Joan:
What was it? What did he offer to you?
Rose:
A flower tiara…
Joan:
It’s not possible, who told you that?!
Rose:
I saw him! And I saw other things also, fractions of seconds, with small
images, sounds, even smells.
Joan's
eyes filled with tears and simultaneously releases a sweet smile.
Joan:
Sofie, you're going to be okay, all of you will be! I have to go, girls...
Sofie:
Already? I feel better. I really do!
Joan:
I need to do something for your body doesn't get sick and I know where to find
answers. Sorry, girls!
Turned
her back and in a rush walk, we lost sight of her.
Monic:
How are you feeling, for real?
Sofie:
Better, really. No one noticed anything, did they?
Dianne:
Don't worry, they're all entertained in their conversations and more attentive
to snacks.
Joan
left Sofie’s party shortly after its start, left worried, revealing something
else thru her look, showed hope. I was a little step to tell about my agreement
with Richard, but the fear of Joan come to interfere, somehow stopped me.
I
was feeling better, stronger, more confident than ever, and at the same time, I
felt myself. As much more was revealed to me much surer of myself I had as if
the little pieces of the mirror rallied showing what I feared to see. Myself!
And
it was from this strength that I served myself to dare in my extra gift to
Sofie. At first, I didn't understand why Sofie kept a secret with us, but the same
way I feared interference from Joan, maybe Sofie feared a conversation of the girls
to be heard by their parents, revealing a side her that she clearly didn't want
to lose, the side of the passion, romance in adolescence and even a bit of
defiance. Sofie knew that if her mother had any inkling of she being in love, would
not allow her to see the boy anymore, in D. Humberta’s words, he’s just a
distraction from studies, from the course that both planned together.
We
spent the afternoon between chat, games and good music. When the Sun went down
it was like the awakening of the clock, the time agreed had come.
Rose:
Sofie, can you help me bring more appetizers?
Sofie:
Of Course!
Monic:
I'm coming with you.
Rose:
Thanks, Monic, but you don't have to. - I made a sign, ragtime to sit. - We can
do it! - Sofie looked at me doubtfully, but this surprise she couldn't guess.
Sofie:
Where are we going? The kitchen is in the back. – We stopped in front of Joan’s
home, where the cars of the guests were gathered. - Joan sent you a message? Does
she know any...
Nelson:
Happy birthday, Sofie. – Said, standing out among the car…
Sofie
looked at me a little confused and ran toward Nelson, in his arms gave him a
hug so strong...
Rose:
well, I'm going back to the party.
Sofie:
Rose. Thank you!
I
smiled and left both.
For
the short route back to the party, a lot passed by my thought but it all resumed
to one person, Mikhael! Upon arriving next to the girls and the boys, I
realized I had forgotten to find an excuse for the absence of Sofie, but by
placing the appetizers on the table Monic quickly changed the course of the
conversation, which, with the help of Charlie, quickly spread throughout the
group. Neither gave the opportunity to question her absence.
With
all the roads and the obstacles that life holds for us there is no better
surprise than friendships and loves that we discover in your path...
