Sofie's B-Day (S1 Ep.19-11)
Friday,
March 14
With
no response to her request, Joan spent the week more attentive than usual. Her
body was present, but her mind seemed to be in every corner of these corridors.
Looked everywhere as if waiting for a sign.
After
school Joan and Diane continued their work with the staff of the Palace, but
not even there her mind appease. There was no distraction capable of taking her
off that state…
Dianne:
Joan, are you okay?
Joan:
Yes, Dianne, I am. – Said drafting a smile in sympathy to her concern.
Dianne:
Let's get going then? - The afraid air of Joan gave her another answer,
however, Dianne did not insist.
Joan:
Yes!
Today
will be the last garage rehearsal of the girls before the show and because is
it at Sofie's house, the girls took the opportunity to pass here at home to see
the progress that Monic and I made with the gifts of their choice and to arrange
the last details to this weekend.
Dianne:
Do we have a deal, then?
Rose:
Sure. You spend tomorrow with Sofie while we help with the preparations and at
Sunday we reverse the papers.
Dianne:
Use a good excuse. You know how she is perceptive.
Monic:
Don't worry. We think of something.
Dianne:
And are the presents ready?
Rose:
They're here. – Said, getting the package that was hidden in the closet. - What
do you think?
Dianne:
They are wonderful, ladies. No doubt she'll love them.
Rose:
Thank You, Dianne.
Monic:
Joan, what do you think?
Joan:
Wow, the butterfly is beautiful. Thanks, Rose. – She was looking around the room
as if she were analyzing the space.
Rose:
what is wrong with you, Joan?
Joan:
I'm Sorry! The event, on Saturday, left me apprehensive. But that's okay.
Rose:
Are you sure?
Joan:
Yes.
Monic:
We all were, but the important thing is that nobody was hurt. It’s passed. - Held
Joan's hand and continued. - You have to put this behind you. It's going to be okay!
Now, let's go to Sofie’s house before it gets late.
Plans
made and agreed, we all together went to the rehearsal. Joan is strange. Her
words didn’t convince, at all. I know that she’s hiding something. I can feel
it. However, it was not a subject I wanted to think about. In her strange way, she'll find a way to open to us. My best friend still within herself, is just a
little lost…
During
the rehearsal, while listening to the girls play, I found myself thinking about
the conversation I had with Charlie and Sofie's birthday. The surprise party is
already underway, yet, there's one more surprise adding, I still don't know how
I'm going to do it, but I will try. That's it! Charlie. Maybe he's the answer I
need.
(Full Moon) Sunday,
March 16
Is
Sunday, day sixteen of March. Today our little Sofie completes her happy date because she celebrates her sixteenth birthday. And even though we are completely
surrounded by everything that relates to the fashion show, we would never miss
a date as special as this!
Since
the girls joined to the project some roles seem to change, we discover new
skills from each other, even our conversations seem to be different. The subjects are decidedly different.
Monic
not only sew as she loves to draw. I knew that, but she has a thing for words,
loves to read and whenever I saw she tagging something were strange words.
Those unusual? That's right! Which is interesting because of the search for its meaning
and its use in a sentence, it’s kind of stimulating activity. Returning to
the point of the question, I found that Monic likes to draw patterns and
joining her vision with the ideas of Sofie, apart from having provided the
perfect excuse has given fabric for sleeves, tops, bottoms, for the complete
outfit of the new collection.
It's
almost noon, mother left us some natural juices, freshly made, and on the
excuse of having an emergency at work, was, in fact, with the girls to get the
birthday cake for Sofie. All arranged with her parents, who are right now
receiving the guests for her surprise party.
From
Joan: We're ready girls!
Rose:
Girls, is Joan, they need us. They are with little manpower to finish the
decoration of the "Red Carpet".
Monic:
Okay! If we leave now we catch the bus at noon.
Sofie:
There’s no need for that, my dad takes us and we can do some sandwiches to take
with us.
Rose:
With the budget from the show, my mother made sure that the Palace's dining
space ensures lunch for the personal.
Sofie:
I know, but they're not counting on us.
Joan:
We are three small mouths, surely there is no problem.
Sofie:
Okay, then we just pass thru my house...
Sofie
is very focused on everything she does, which leads us to think she’s not
paying attention to what's going on around her, but it's completely wrong. And
so I couldn't tell if she suspected of anything or not. We were entering at the
front door of her house and she seemed to be relaxed with no idea of what to
expect… As we advanced in the hallway I saw her watchful eye and then I knew,
she suspected, but as she so did we got caught off guard, her house was empty.
Sofie:
Mother, Father?!
D.
Humberta: In the kitchen, honey.
Sofie:
Where is dad?
D.
Humberta: Hello girls! Your father is upstairs. – I swapped a look of
admiration with the Monic. "Where is everybody?" Sofie lurked in the
garage, but all indicated that it was empty, too. - Girls, did you come to
lunch?
Sofie:
No, we need a ride to the Palace and came to ask dad.
D.
Humberta: Go upstairs and ask him.
Sofie:
Okay. – Her eyes got a little sad, even us get lost, we expected a party. Did
Joan get to the wrong house? - Thanks, mom.
We
follow Sofie to the stairs, completely disappointed, but once her vision
encompassed the upstairs, everyone shouted – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
