A glimpse of the past (S1 Ep.3-13)
And while I wrote what was to be a new beginning of a chapter in our lives Joan learned a little more about her past, about her history, about our history...
Mrs Beatrice: My dear, through the records in the family, the legacy of your ancestors have been passed down from generation to generation. Our history is stored in small books like this one. Including our olive oil recipe, which comes from the 15th century.
Joan: It's very old grandma! And where are stored all these books?
Mrs Beatrice: Yes, it is, has close to 600 years, my dear, and it has to be very well preserved. At the beginning of the 15th century, our ancestors fought to keep these lands. Were, even then, of great value and so much coveted…
Joan: So, how it still yours?
Mrs Beatrice: ...When all hope seemed lost, a kind soul found our ancestors, they called the Benefactor. There are several texts dedicated to her and the well that she made to our family written in the journals of the time. According to a diary really special, of the matriarch of the time, this good soul bought all our lands and later, before the death of own matriarch, who became her close friend, the Benefactor returned to our family all properties without taking a single penny in return. By her words, "the history of a family as old as ours had to be protected and preserved. It was then that our ancestors built the Mausoleum of the family and would be where our history and all the secrets would be kept for years to come.
Joan: In the Mausoleum? But it's too small. It is not possible to have all the journals of our family since the 15th century there!
Mrs Beatrice: It's not just since the 15th century, my dear, is long before that. And Yes, it's possible. But, for today, enough of history. Up, up, up, to bed.
Joan: Now that the story was interesting.
Mrs Beatrice: Today was a long day. Tomorrow we have more to explore and learn.
Joan: Goodnight grandma.
Sra. Beatrice: Good night sweetheart. Sleep well!
