5th Episode – One step closer (S1 Ep.5-1)
A moment f nostalgia
Tuesday, July 9
Today was a long day of
work, still, the joy of meeting with the
girls gave me a little more energy to overcome the evening that I predicted full of animation. And a date as
special as today's energy cannot be missing. It is Monic's birthday! She is a
big fan of nature, loves being outdoors and adores family activities. Her
birthday parties are genuine amusement fairs, with diverse games, food and
drink stalls, arranged in a well-coordinated
and decorated space.
By the time of my arrival, the presence of familiar faces composed
the premises. As I was appreciating the
space, with the soft drink, offered at the entrance, in hand, searched for
Monic to congratulate her. While I did so, between nods and greetings, I found
myself thinking... - "How weird is this feeling of reunion, this feeling
of unconscious absence!" – Not a month of vacation passed, but in fact,
much more was the time that seemed to part us from each other. At the sight of
the Monic by the Dianne and Sofie side, I
headed in their direction. However, one face, in particular, stole my
attention, bringing me to mind moments of a not-so-distant past…
Monic: What a blue expression!
No sad faces today!
Rose: I'm not sad Monic.
Just a moment of nostalgia…
Joan: Nostalgia? Oh my
beautiful, we still have many moments like this to share...
Rose: Joan, you're here!
Joan: Hello girls, happy
birthday Monic.
Monic: Thank You, Joan. I don't think Rose meant that! – And with
a gesture, nothing subtle directed the
attention of Joan to Ryan.
Sofie: The Prince not so
charming.
Rose: No! I don't see him
that way! Simply, I miss our friendship. Now are in no speaking terms.
Dianne: How do I understand
you! The first love always leaves a missing feeling. I also remember perfectly
mine. In the third class, we were
inseparable, spent the hours of playtime playing together... But after the
summer vacation ended, when we go back to the fourth grade, nothing was the
same any more. He was always with the new girl, it was like I didn't even
exist.
Rose: No… - Said a little
incredulous, because I couldn't understand the emphatic drama of Dianne.
"It was like I didn't even exist." How cruel would that friend of
hers be!
Monic: A tragic moment in Dianne’s
life, so tragic, that she got obsessed with organizing and planning everything
in advance. - The euphemism was noticeable in her tone. As much as Dianne tell us
that exceeded the past, she never really
understood what could have happened, for her
best friend from childhood stop talking to her and despite the fact they were only
children at the time, she really liked him a lot and it hurt her and still does.
Dianne: So funny! I learned
that if you know what's waiting for you, you will have no unpleasant surprises.
Today if we pass for each other we might not even recognize ourselves. In your
case, you didn’t accept to date him and...
Rose: I had and have a
fondness for him, but not like that... I didn't want to ruin the friendship we
had and I ended up ruin it anyway.
Joan: Both have friends for
life here. – Said in her playful way, putting her head on Dianne’s shoulder and
her left arm around me.
Monic: A toast to friendship, girls...
Sofie: And to you, Monic!
This is an uncorrupted truth. Friendship is for life. Friendship
is the blood ties that we create by choice, it is an unconditional love, free
of any interest to own profit. It’s free of
judgmental and with the truth always present.
It is a feeling of belonging without possession nor expectation of a reward…
