A deep mark (S1 Ep.5-12)
The night start turbulent, I had some difficulty falling asleep, beyond all I wrote and couldn't get a sense out of it, Joan gave no further news since she left here. We talked every night, but not even a message of "good night!" in reply I received.
When I finally got to sleep, my mind wandered… I was wandering around magnificent gardens colourful by its flowers. Accompanied by this male figure whom I could not see his face clearly, but it wasn't strange, his presence calmed me, the illusion created thru the dream left me with a sense of calm and serenity.
Wednesday, 17 July
I woke up with a huge desire to face the day, let the sorrow of my suspicions behind and enjoy it to the fullest with Joan, starting with the volleyball practice, followed by a rest of morning catching some sun and after lunch work on the project. So I grabbed my cell phone and sent a text to Joan...
I prepared myself with the vague memory of my dream because I didn’t remember every detail, I couldn't set it in time or in space. And although I didn’t recognize his face, that male presence left in me a hope, a sense of a mysterious love longed for a revelation. How I wish it were real…
Twenty minutes passed and not a word from Joan. I called her, but it played until reach the mailbox. And so the concern of having spent an evening and night completely without news came back. Everything seemed strange about her attitudes, it was like this new person from day to day revealed more about herself. The fear of losing my best friend was agonizing.
From Rose: Joan where are you, why don’t you answer the phone?
She didn't answer my calls nor texts. I think this was the first time I ever felt lost in relation to Joan. The mix of feelings caused by her lack of consideration for me, for our summer job, started to leave a mark. This uncertainty about everything that involved her made me question, for the first time, about our friendship. And here was when, I thought, the worst had happened. So I decided call to her home. Luckily, perhaps being early in the hour, her mother answered.
Rose: Mrs Irya, is Rose. Good morning! Is Joan at home?
Mrs Irya: Good morning Rose! No my dear, she stayed last night at her Grandma's.
Rose: And is everything ok with her? She didn’t answer the phone!
Mrs Irya: Yesterday, when she called, was from her grandma’s house, probably she ran out of battery.
Rose: Hum… - “Without battery, I don’t think so, because the phone gave the signal to be calling.” So I thought. – All right! Thank you, Mrs Irya.
Hoping to contact Joan I even forgot to tell Charlie that today I couldn't go to the practice. Once again, I didn't know what was wrong with Joan.
Charlie: Rose?!
Rose: Up here!
Charlie: Don't you come to practice?
Rose: Not today, Charlie! I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, but I also didn't know that Joan couldn't go.
Charlie: It’s okay! Is she all right?
Rose: Mrs Irya told me she stayed at her grandma’s house, more I don’t know!
Charlie: You girls, getting upset about everything and anything. Well, I'm going, if you need something call me. See you later.
Rose: Goodbye Charlie.
