Look a second time (S1Ep19-3)
Love!
There is so much in this little word. For it the craziest things are made, we
leave our comfort zone, we risk more, a lot more... There will be a purpose?!
Why fall in love for someone that doesn’t match? Is it all an illusion? A fantasy
that it is used to justify our actions?!
Despite
the doubts that this little word creates, there was something I had to do, for
the good of Charlie and Sofie, but it wasn't easy. She has us, she doesn't need
to suffer in silence. I can't imagine how hard it's been keeping this secret.
Charlie for the other hand is outgoing, dynamic, but when he feels something
more than friendship is the exact opposite. Will it be a feature of the boys?!
Mario, Richard, Charlie ... Why don't they say what they mean? The longer they
wait the more the girls think they don't care about their feelings, or worse,
that they don't feel the same at all.
Sofie
were the last we left at home, which reminded me that I had to talk to Charlie.
I didn't say anything until we got to the driveway, but before we left the car I
won the courage that I needed ...
Rose:
Charlie?!
Charlie:
Yes!
Rose:
Yesterday I found something and I think you need to know.
Charlie:
What happened? - He frowned with a worried look.
Rose:
Well, last year I saw the postcard that you did, by Valentine's day, to Sofie.
I didn't mention anything, then, because I didn't want to create an awkward environment.
Charlie:
What? No, no, no. I'm not in love with Sofie… Wait. You snoop at my room?
Rose:
No! Why are you changing the subject?
Charlie:
Huh?! – Asked in a joking way. - Before you go any further, let me say this. I
didn't make a postcard, I wrote something in its envelope.
Rose:
I wasn't snooping, I was walking thru the hall, you had the door open, I saw
the post, I saw you write and I thought…
Charlie:
What you saw was I leaving a mark, my handwriting, for the case if it happens to
be seen by anybody else than Sofie and so, I help a friend.
Rose:
I'm lost! Why would you do that?! Did you know she meets the maintenance boy?!
Who is he?!
Charlie:
Sofie is like a sister, we spent a lot of time together is true, but to me, she
is like one of the boys. Nothing like that. – Said doing a funny grimaced. - How
did you find out? Did she tell you?
Rose:
Do you know who the boy is or not?
Charlie:
Yes. He practices futsal with me.
Rose:
And how is that Sofie met him?
Charlie:
Rose, you're my sister and I love you, but I made a promise. You are friends,
if you want to know more you will have to ask her... - Removed the key from the
ignition and leave the door, at his side, slightly open. - He is a good
boy.
Rose:
But we don't know anything about him, tell me that you don't think it's
strange? She never mentioned, not once!
Charlie:
You've been weird. I know you have done so much and which you need to think
about, but you don't need to be worried about the girls all the time. They are
not your responsibility and they are already well grown up.
"I
wish it were that simple." I thought with the observation of Charlie.
Rose:
I'm just trying to help ...
Charlie:
As with Joan and Richard? I know you have been spending some time together, but
he's not the kind of guy to ask or need a Cupid.
Rose:
So, you know about Joan and Richard, too? – I wondered what more would he know.
Would he know about us?
Charlie:
It was a good move, the share of the places in the car. Now give them space and time they
need to get better acquainted. - No, he should not know. - And as you know,
Sofie has her reasons to keep the secret. A little slip and her mother end the
band and probably change her of school. She keeps it, not only for herself but
for the girls too... I know that you understand.
And
I understood! There are burdens that are ours to carry and ours alone because
there is no justice in place on those around us its weight. Despite this and
know how overwhelming a secret can be, I won't leave Sofie alone and helpless, she
does not have to carry this one alone.
All
this time I thought the reaction of both was due to a flourishing of feelings.
All of us thought the same about it. They see each other frequently in the lab, have worked
together on several projects and have plenty of complicity in what they do
together. In fact, Charlie's been playing matchmaker to help two friends!
At
the end is more than friendship, without a doubt! Are bonds that are created
beyond the blood, is the respect and sharing a secret of Sofie that unites them
in such complicity in their eyes.
